Lower receives national scholarship to attend graduate school

2012 Jazz/Commercial Music graduate Jim Lower, was recently awarded the Percussive Arts Society Hudson Music Scholarship.  The single $1000 scholarship is awarded annually to a drum set applicant, who is required submit a DVD of drum set performances with their application.  Applicants are judged on musicality, ability to contribute to the group performance and overall quality of tempo, time, style and musical interaction.

Michael Kenyon, Dxecutive of the Percussive Arts Society commented:

"Our distinguished judges were excited and impressed with the quality shown in your performance.  They extend to you best wishes as you continue your education."

Jim will be attending the University of Northern Colorado in the fall of 2012 to earn his masters degree in jazz studies.  Jim has been awarded a Teaching Assistant (drum set) for two years at UNC.  At UCM, Jim was a student of Dr. David Aaberg (jazz studies) and Dr. Michael Sekelsky (percussion).
