Scholarship/Admissions Auditions
Drumline Auditions
Music Degree Programs
General Ensemble Auditions
All students interested in pursuing a music degree (music major or minor) must Audition for admission, and take the Music Fundamentals Examination.
Students normally perform one

-
Admission level for music
degrees (if intending to pursue a music major or minor)
-
Scholarship consideration
- Marching Band (woodwinds / brass
only;
Drumline auditions are separate from this process)
Percussion auditions are held in
February, preferably on Scholarship Audition Day (Saturday
before President’s Day each spring). Annual dates,
locations, and audition scheduling forms are posted on the
UCM
Music Scholarship page
www.UCMmusic.com. To schedule an audition, please

Everything listed below, except the
Music Fundamentals Exam, must be completed in a 12 minute
audition. Please edit longer selections accordingly.
All percussion instruments will be provided (students should
bring their own sticks, mallets, and music). Typical
percussion literature for scholarship and admissions auditions
includes:
- Missouri All-State Band
Audition Materials (long or short etudes)
Snare Drum Option list
Keyboard Option list
Timpani Option list
- Solos performed at MSHSAA
district/state events (or other state festivals)
- Any etude from Percussion
Audition Music, by Cort McClaren/Nathan Daughtrey,

Students auditioning for admission
will also be asked to perform either:
·
2 major scales selected by the audition
panel from the following (C, F, Bb, EB, Ab, G, D, A, E) – must
be memorized; or snare drum rudiments (Flam Paradiddle; 9-stroke

Every student will be required to
sight read a brief excerpt in their area of choice from the
following (snare drum or keyboard).
Students will be notified, in
writing, of any scholarship offer and their admissions level (if
pursuing a music degree). Students will be notified of
their admissions status as soon as possible following the
audition/exam. Scholarship offers are sent after March 8th
each spring.
