Marching Mules Leadership

Staff:

 

The Marching Mules are led by Dr. Scott Lubaroff, Director of Bands. Dr. Lubaroff joined the Central Missouri music faculty in the fall of 2005, following four years as Associate Director of Bands at Kansas State University.  Dr. Lubaroff oversees UCM’s entire band program, and in addition to directing the Marching Mules, also conducts the Wind Ensemble and teaches undergraduate courses in conducting and music education, and supervises student teachers.

Assisting with the Marching Mules are Dr. Michael Sekelsky, Percussion Professor and Assistant Director of Bands and Dr. David Stagg, Professor of Trombone and Associate Director of Bands. Dr. Sekelsky begins his 24th year with the marching band and percussion programs at UCM and Dr. Stagg enters his 27th year on the music faculty.

Graduate Assistant :
 

Graduate Teaching Assistant with the UCM Bands is Mr. Tremon Kizer. Tremon is a 2002 graduate of Kansas State University (BME) and current Director of Bands at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas. Prior to this appointment he taught for three years in Goodland, KS. Tremon is an active performer on trombone and clinician with many school band programs in eastern Kansas.

 

Feature Twirler:

 

The Marching Mules are proud to showcase Ms. Shelby Stark from Carrollton, Missouri as our Feature Twirler!

Shelby entered UCM's nursing program in the fall of 2007. She has competed successfully in state and national twirling competitions and is both two-time Miss Majorette of Missouri and intermediate 2007 Missouri State Solo champion in her age division. Shelby also placed 5th nationally in the beginner 2006 Miss Majorette of America pageant and was her division's beginner 2006 World Open Solo champion.

Shelby is coached by Theresa Uchytil-Etler of Kansas City. Theresa, originally from Urbandale, Iowa, was Miss Iowa 2000 and was the Feature Twirler for the Iowa State University Marching Band from 1994-98.
