Fees, Classifications, Competition Format

Field Show: A $250 application fee is required (all entry fees are nonrefundable)

CLASSIFICATIONS Classifications will be according to the number of all playing members (winds and percussion) in each band. Classes will be determined 2 weeks prior to the Festival date. All bands will perform in the class assigned according to the deadline (2 weeks prior to Festival) even if the band has fewer playing members the day of the Festival. If on the festival day your playing members exceed the class in which you are entered, your band will automatically be moved to the next higher class.

BLACK DIVISION: (6 Bands) with the largest number of playing members

RED DIVISION: (6 bands) 

WHITE DIVISION (7 bands) with the lowest number of playing members

PRELIMS The first 30 schools to return application (including entry fee) will be selected (date payment is received will be criterion for selection). Bands 31 - 40 will be considered "alternates."

Order of appearance will be determined by the Festival Manager according to Division, number of playing members, and school’s participation in the Drumline Competition and/or Auxiliary Competition.

AWARDS Prelims: Trophies will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd highest scores in each Preliminary Competition Division.

Outstanding Achievement Awards: The following may be awarded at the discretion of the judges.  Outstanding Drum Major(s), Outstanding Auxiliary Unit, Outstanding Musical Unit (may include Drumline).

Finals:  The finals competition will be "open" class with 12 bands competing and will feature the following bands from the Prelims Competition:

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place bands from White, Red, and Black Divisions, and the next 3 highest scoring bands, regardless of division.  Finals appearance will be based on Prelims score (highest scoring band performs last; lowest scoring band performs 1st, etc.).

Finals Awards: Festival of Champions finals trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place.  Bands that do not receive a finals trophy will receive a 2006 Finals plaque.

Auxiliary Competition: A $50 application fee is required. (all entry fees are nonrefundable)

Schools are not required to enter the Field Show festival in order to compete in the Festival of Champions Auxiliary Competition. However, preference will be given to schools who also enter the Festival of Champions - Field Show.

Drumline Competition: A $50 application fee is required. (all entry fees are nonrefundable)

Schools are not required to enter the Field Show festival in order to compete in the Festival of Champions Drumline Competition. However, preference will be given to schools who also enter the Festival of Champions - Field Show.
